Overview

The importance of events which led to the Wheaton ITC Conference will be emphasized by Jon Knebel, Jan Kind, Betty Bland, and President Tim Boyd.

The conference will feature speakers and guests from several different Theosophical organizations. There are also unaffiliated speakers on such subjects as psychology, astrophysics, and the world’s great religions. 

To start the conference, emphasis will be placed on the motive and purpose of ITC:  Keynote Presentations on Theosophical “Fraternization and Unity.”

The panel will include Michael Gomes (a well-known Theosophical author), Jerry Ekins (extensive background in Theosophical History), Sally Colbert (President of ITC), and James Colbert, Ph.D., who have prepared an extensive background for this historic conference at the Olcott Center in Wheaton, Illinois. The theme of “Cycles” will be explored: The 700 year cycle, instituted by Tsongkhapa and the other adepts who made possible the appearance of HPB and Judge in 1875.  With a spiritual perspective Myrra Lee, former Teacher of the Year, will address the historical cycles from Atlantis and Lemuria, through the history of Western civilization, to the controversy over Mayan calendar predictions.

Further emphasis on Cycles will include talks by Helena Kerekhazi, MS, Ed., Ph.D., “Healing with Cycles,” “Atlantis and Lemuria,” by Dr. Judy Saltzman, Professor Carolyn Dorrance will address “Karma and Social Responsibility,” while Dr. Ruth Richards will explain “Empathy in the Kali Yuga.” 

Further topics will include Education and Theosophy, with Erwin Bomas and Herman C. Vermeulen, Science and Theosophy.

The important role of Theosophical Publications will be given focus by Jan Kind, Editor of Theosophy Forward, Richard Smoley, Editor of Quest magazine, and Dara Eklund, who has contributed extensively to HPB’s Collected Writings and is the Compiler of Echoes of the Orient.

Her aim is to trace the unifying threads which drew the cooperation of all the Theosophical Societies and branchlets in an ongoing worldwide effort for over a century. Sally and James Colbert will contribute regarding the ITC Magazine’s efforts toward addressing social and moral issues of our times.
