How to Unstick Our Sticky Karma

MORE than five-thousand years ago, ancient healers described hundreds of invisible energy meridians throughout the human body. When these pathways were unblocked and revitalized, people quickly healed.

This ancient system of healing we today describe in various ways. Emotional Freedom Techniques is a form of counseling intervention that draws on various theories of alternative medicine – including acupuncture, neuro-linguistic programming, energy medicine, and Thought Field Therapy.

Acupuncture often uses special sterilized needles. But many healers are literally tapping into this natural energy  system of the body, without needles, using only their bare hands and fingers.

Using this new system ordinary people are learning how to master all the “mental changes” in themselves, as taught by The Voice of the Silence, and report healing almost instantly.

They learn how to “harmless make” the stubborn thought and emotional issues that have plagued them, often embedded in early childhood, causing numerous physical, emotional and psychological illnesses as adults. The success resulting from a healing memory recall is an object lesson of what Einstein famously wrote:

We can’t solve problems, by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.

Instead, the old thought forms blocking the flow of natural energies in our system have to be cleared away. As we free ourselves from old habits of thinking, we come to recognize our role as a causitive agent in the problems they caused.


In psychological terms it means assuming personal karmic responsibility, and there’s nothing in the universe, even atomic energy, more powerful than the powers of gratitude and acceptance.

Getting Unstuck

It’s probably an understatement to say it’s difficult for most people to get to the root cause of difficult issues, especially if the causes were set up in a past life, a life they cannot consciously now recall.

It is the forgotten events, limiting beliefs, and fixed emotional patterns that glue us to our fate as flypaper does a fly.

Negative Patterns

Monkey Stuck

Natives in the islands used to catch monkeys by cutting a hole in the top of a coconut, hollow it out, fill it with sweet beans, and tie it to the base of a tree. During the night, a monkey would approach the coconut shell, reach inside and grab a handful of sweet beans — then hold them tight in his fist.

A Monkey Trap

With his hand rolled into a fist, he could not pull his hand back through the opening in the coconut, because he wouldn’t let go of the beans.

So in the morning, the monkey was still trapped there, and the natives only had to come by and pick him up.

Monkey tired.

Silence the Chatter

Sometimes we find ourselves trapped simply because we won’t let go of all our past grudges, resentments, bitterness, guilt over past mistakes. We hang on to unrealistic expectations of ourselves and others.

The truth is we all have sticky
obsessions that cling to us.

Sticky Mistakes

We blindly believe that certain familiar feelings and beliefs will give us identity and provide lasting satisfaction. When we hold limiting personal beliefs, instead of remaining open, we can become enslaved like a monkey’s fist in a coconut full of nuts. Some sticky things such as:

Our work, our stuff, our money, our experiences, our hobbies, our relationships, our status,  our entertainment — our worldviews.

Old emotions always come back at the least opportune time if you don’t clear them. Spiritual and normal life progression is difficult unless the reactivity of our emotional and mental attachments is neutralized. Easy to say. But made easier using the powerful psychophysiological method of Tapping.

Practicing the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) daily, neutralizes the relentless chatter [of what are called in Sanskrit the skandhas] and maximizing true feelings that empower us, that do not drag us down to their level.  You can then create the changes needed to make your life work better for you and others.

Plato’s Cave

In Plato’s “The Allegory of the Cave,” Socrates begins by describing a cave inhabited by prisoners who have been chained and held immobile since childhood. “Not only are their arms and legs held in place

but their heads are bound facing a wall, where they can only see reflected shadows — illusions they must take for reality.

The process of self-realization is gradual explains Theosophical writer William Q. Judge in his paper The Subjective and the Objective, We are “learning to distinguish between the ‘I’ and the ‘not-I.’  We know of nothing more material or external than the physical, material, visible body — the world of matter, so-called;

and here is the inner wall (reversing the figure from outward to inward) of the cave which Socrates describes in Plato’s dialogue.

  1. Thank you so much for this post, TW, so great. I honestly know of no other blog, or book, course, etc, that ties the “New Age” boom of techniques to the Ancient Wisdom,Theosophy, so well, though I am sure they exist, and of course, we know that All is One and there is no separation. The tapping technique. Watching the woman changed right before my eyes, who knows what it was going to take to recognize the emotions that plague us as skandas! Sigh… I have not felt very attracted to the Tapping Technique, but clearly, there is something to it, and I have a whole new appreciation for it, thanks, much needed. Yet another eye opening gift! NAMASTE!
