Man’s Hidden Spiritual and Psychic Powers

COHERENT consciousness creates order in the world, and subtle interactions link us with each other and the Earth.

According to H. P. Blavatsky, “the ‘separateness’ which we feel between ourselves and the world of living beings around us is an illusion, not a reality.”

“We intend to prove,” she wrote in her article Kosmic Mind, “that modern science … is itself on the eve of discovering that consciousness is universal.”

The Third Object of the Theosophical Movement as found in H. P. Blavatsky’s The Key to Theosophy, Section 3:

To investigate the hidden mysteries of Nature under every aspect possible, and the psychic and spiritual powers latent in man especially.

Intended, among other reasons, to establish, according to H. P. Blavatsky and her Adept Teachers, that “the ‘separateness’ which we feel between ourselves and the world of living beings around us is an illusion, not a reality.”

The mechanism of this underlying universal reality, W. Q. Judge wrote in The Ocean of Theosophy (Ch. 16), is the handiwork of a sensitive psychic matrix, called “the astral light,” which can transmit “pictures of events to come” — but only if the creations “are sufficiently well marked and made.”

Events for several years to come, “the producing and efficient causes,” Judge wrote, “are always laid down with enough definiteness to permit the seer to see them in advance, as if they were present.” Clairvoyance, Judge wrote:

It is a faculty common to all men, though in the majority but slightly developed.

“Occultism asserts,” he continued, “that were it not for the germ of this power slightly active in every one, no man could convey to another any idea whatsoever.”

Blavatsky proclaimed in The Secret Doctrine (2:149): “The whole issue of the quarrel between the profane and the esoteric sciences, depends upon the belief in, and demonstration of, the existence of an astral body within the physical, the former independent of the latter.”

Connecting at a Distance: The Astral Matrix

Astral World

OCCULT metaphysics teaches the astral light is an invisible electromagnetic matrix or plasma field that supports all forms and beings in the visible physical world.

This active image-field is the mystical progeny of “the One homogeneous divine Substance-Principle, the one radical cause,” (The Secret Doctrine 1:273), sometimes related to “Akasa” in Sanskrit.

Also called: “The shining ether, cosmic space, the fifth cosmic element. The subtle, supersensuous spiritual essence which pervades all space.”  (The Encyclopedic Theosophical Glossary)

One outcome of the effects of this universal substratum, as the psi researcher Dean Radin notes in his book Entangled Minds, is that “we occasionally have numinous feelings of connectedness with loved ones at a distance.”

“The idea of the universe as an interconnected whole is not new,” Radin says, “for millennia it’s been one of the core assumptions of Eastern philosophies. What is new is that Western science is slowly beginning to realize that some elements of that ancient lore might be correct.”

The Astral Light is the primeval storehouse and reflector of all the thoughts, ideas, feelings and acts uploaded from the Earthly doings of self-conscious humanity.

The spiritual substance supporting universal inter-connectivity is called Ākāśa in Sanskrit, a word meaning “aether” (in both its elemental and metaphysical sense.) The Ākāśa, with its alter-ego the Astral Light, are the raison d’etre of ‘out-of-body’ experiences, and support the entire spectrum from the spiritual to mundane psychic experiences (PSI).

The Matrix

The Global Mind

The ongoing scientific experiment The Global Consciousnesses Project  demonstrates that the simultaneous force of many minds focused on one event, produce measurable effects in scientific instruments—facilitated, Theosophists believe, by this same ubiquitous, universal mediating astral substance.

The Global Consciousness Project is an international collaboration of scientists, engineers, and artists. They maintain a global network that has been collecting data continuously since 1998 from sensitive instruments that produce random sequences. Their purpose is to examine subtle correlations and structure in the data that seem to reflect the presence and activity of consciousness in the world.

The Cosmic Architect

Nothing is exempt from this active, vital fluid, as it is the blueprint for everything that is, was or ever shall be manifested. It is the basis for memory, dreams, clairvoyance, body, mind and emotional fields, and the transmitter in each life of every person’s individual karma.

In its original presentment, the astral light medium was pristine and undefiled, but due to human nature has now a dual potency, and is both the friend and enemy of the unenlightened.

Clairevoyant Astral Reader

Clairvoyant Astral Reader

Similar to an electromagnetic field, and akin to plasma, it is difficult to describe. The ‘astral light’ surrounds, interpenetrates and, as said, is the underlying informational pattern for all the visible, objective forms in the universe.

In the article The Ether, But Not the One You Think, Reed Carson, creator of the website Blavatsky.net wrote that “Blavatsky could have taught that the word ‘vacuum’ refers to emptiness. She did not. Rather she explained that when the informed ancients referred to ‘vacuum’ they meant latent force.”

Electric Soup

“‘Nature abhors Vacuum‘ said the Peripatetics,” Blavatsky wrote, and “Democritus, with his instructor Leucippus, taught that

…the first principles of all things contained in the Universe were atoms and a vacuum. The later means simply latent Deity or force.

Ω

Bubble of Consciousness Layers

Our Astral Body is closely related to the life force or Sanskrit “prana,” and is in continuous rhythmic flow. This life current, she says, “must be broken by changing the waking for the sleeping state. Ask a good clairvoyant to describe the aura of a person just refreshed by sleep, and he

…will be seen bathed in rhythmical vibrations of life currents—golden, blue, and rosy—these are the electrical waves of Life.

Cosmic mind, an electrical force, embedded in the latent Ākāśic Deity, is also the source of interconnected world consciousness. “We intend to prove that modern science, owing to physiology,” Blavatsky wrote prophetically, “is itself on the eve of discovering that consciousness is universal.”

Aristotle’s Peripatetic school

“We intend to prove that modern science, owing to physiology, is itself on the eve of discovering that consciousness is universal –

“We mean also to show that though many a man of science is soaked through and through with such belief, very few are brave enough to openly admit it.”

Ω

The Tao of Physics

In his tour de force, The Tao of Physics, Fritjof Capra wrote: “The quantum field is seen as the fundamental physical entity —

… a continuous medium which is present everywhere in space. Particles are merely local condensations of the field

— concentrations of energy which come and go, thereby losing their individual character and dissolving into the underlying field.”

The Field is the Only Reality

In the words of Albert Einstein: “We may therefore regard matter as being constituted by the regions of space in which the field is extremely intense …

There is no place in this new kind of physics both for the field and matter, for the field is the only reality.

Hard scientific evidence for this body field arrived when the Russian technician Semyon Kirlian discovered he could photograph the energy surrounding many objects, including our bodies.

The Field of the Hands

Known since as “Kirlian Photography,” everything from minerals and tree leaves, to living tissue, have been shown as being enveloped in this living matrix.

It can now be demonstrated that our bodies emit energy fields — which vary, depending on our state of health, feelings and thoughts.

Some researchers studying these emissions are even using Kirlian photographs as a diagnostic tool to measure states of illness and health.

Kirlian Healing

Do our bodies emit energy fields which vary depending on our state of health? Is it possible to photograph these emissions and to use these photos as a diagnostic tool? Kirlian photography has raised and begun to answer these two questions.

A ‘New Force

Electrotherapy really began with the pioneering work of Nikola Tesla, on electrical currents. A little-remembered fact is that Tesla, (the father of alternating current) worked with Thomas Edison (a Theosophist) to develop the electrical system we take for granted today.

Nikola Tesla

Blavatsky mentions Edison’s “new force,” (Isis Unveiled 1:126), “which force seems to have little in common with electricity, or galvanism, except the principle of conductivity. If demonstrated, it may remain for a long time under some pseudonymous scientific name.”

Nevertheless, it will be but one of the numerous family of children brought forth from the commencement of time by our kabalistic mother, the Astral Virgin.

Edison in his laboratory in New Jersey, 1901

Electric Boy

“The electrical boy was a favorite eighteenth-century experiment, often performed as entertainment. Such experiments were in part pioneered by Hooke’s successor as the curator of experiments at the Royal Society.

“The second curator, Francis Hauksbee, was under the patronage of Isaac Newton, the Royal Society’s president.

Newton

Electrical experiments often referred to Newton’s late suggestions of a subtle conducting fluid of the ether.

“This engraving is taken from William Watson’s 1748 work. A rotating crank generates electricity which is transferred to the shoes of a boy suspended on silk ropes.

The boy in turn transmits a genteel shock to the girl who is standing on a tar-covered barrel.

Her other hand is probably extended to attract feathers or small pieces of paper.”

Morphic Fields

Recognition has also been gained, with the theory of “morphogenetic fields” or “morphic field”— a term coined by biologist Rupert Sheldrake, author of many books on the subject— including:

Dogs That Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home

Phantom Fingers

A short video presentation about Kirlian Photography, a precursor to Aura Photography, and a giant leap forward in the acceptance of the existence of the astral field or body.

Validating are reports of out-of-body experiences (OBEs), near-death-experiences (NDEs), and past-life memories, including those of children.

Carol Bowman, M.S. is an internationally known author, lecturer, counselor, past life regression therapist, and pioneer in reincarnation studies. She has been boldly dipping into the Ākāśic ocean for nearly two decades. Bowman is best known for her research into children’s past lives.

Electric Man

Pioneers like Bob Monroe, Charles Tart, and others, tested the possibility of “astral travel,” getting outside the body. Workshops such as those offered by GlideWing, explore the energy body, and controlled states of consciousness.

Slavia Patjic has more going for him in a body, than out. He has a unique physical peculiarity, he is not affected by electricity. He is a big star in Serbia, and soon he wants to conquer America by trying the Electric Chair!

Taboos in Science

The question remains: how are any of these phenomena possible, without a supportive medium or memory matrix, and a transportation highway? Mainstream Science still does not recognize

the subtle human energy body that can escape from its physical prison, just as it doesn’t recognize a mind separate from the brain.

Scarecrow, The Wizard of Oz

Materialist objections to energy phenomena like thought transference, clairvoyance, telepathy, psychokinesis, are being knocked down by the painstaking, scientific work of Dean Radin, at the Institute of Noetic Sciences. At the frontier of consciousness studies, Dr. Radin is challenging scientific taboos.

What’s Missing?

The whole issue of the quarrel between the profane and the esoteric sciences depends upon the belief in, and demonstration of, the existence of an astral body within the physical, the former independent of the latter.

Out-of-Body Experience

The Mind in Nature

by H. P. Blavatsky

“From the first ages of man, the fundamental truths of all that we are permitted to know on earth were in the safe keeping of the Adepts of the sanctuary; that the difference in creeds and religious practice was only external; and that those guardians of the primitive divine revelation, who had solved every problem that is within the grasp of human intellect, were bound together by a universal freemasonry of science and philosophy, which formed one unbroken chain around the globe.

“In the Orphic hymns, the Eros-Phanes evolves from the Spiritual Egg, which the aethereal winds impregnate, wind being ‘the Spirit of God,’ who is said to move in aether, ‘brooding over the Chaos the Divine ‘Idea.’ In the Hindu Kathopanishad, Purusha, the Divine Spirit, stands before the original Matter; from their union springs the great Soul of the World, ‘Maha-Atma, Brahm, the Spirit of Life’; these latter appellations are identical with the Universal Soul, or Anima Mundi, and the Astral Light of the Theurgists and Kabalists.”

Subtle Energy

This subtle body may also be associated with an equally subtle but substantive electrical system that ancient acupuncturists understood very well. Bjorn Nordenstrom claims to have found a heretofore unknown universe of electrical activity that is the very foundation of the healing process.

“If he is right he has made the most profound bio-medical discovery of the century!”

Λ

Distance Powers

Theosophical pioneer, William Quan Judge, explains in the Ocean of Theosophy that “all the instances of clairvoyance and clairaudience are to be explained by the astral body and astral light. The astral — which are the real organs — do the seeing and the hearing,

…and as all material objects are constantly in motion among their own atoms, the astral sight and hearing are not impeded…”

ö

Astral Body – Out of Physical Body

“Thus it was that the great seer Swedenborg saw houses burning in the city of Stockholm when he was at another city many miles off, and by the same means any clairvoyant of the day sees and hears at a distance.”

Phantom Effect

There have been many incidents, reported over the years, of people who have felt an amputated arm or hand, called “phantom limbs,” (now called SPL “supernumerary phantom limb.”)

ó

In her Transactions, Blavatsky says the brain “is such a complex thing, both physically and metaphysically, that it is like a tree whose bark you can uncover layer by layer.”

She adds that each of these layers is different from the others, and each has “its own special work,brain5 function and properties.”

Neuroscience today is able to verify that discrete areas of the brain are in fact associated with specific tasks. But these centers can also be shared throughout the brain.

Phantom Limbs

Approximately 50 to 80% of individuals with an amputation, experience phantom sensations in their amputated limb, and the majority of the sensations are painful.

Phantom sensations may also occur after the removal of body parts other than the limbs, e.g. after amputation of the breast, extraction of a tooth (phantom tooth pain,) or removal of an eye (phantom eye syndrome.)

Astral Brain

Telekenesis

In the Ocean of Theosophy, W. Q. Judge explains the occult principles underlying the “apportation of objects without physical contact.”

The astral hand may be extruded and made to take hold of an object, drawing it in toward the body.

…the Hindu yogis make coffee cups fly through the air, and distant objects approach apparently of their own accord untouched by him or anyone else.”

“SPL”

An unusual, scientifically documented case was published 20 March 2009 in the Annals of Neurology, using fMRI scans of a patient who could actually “see” the supernumerary phantom limb (SPL):

“Using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), we investigated the multimodal nature of this phantom, which the patient claimed to be able see, use and move intentionally. The patient participated in a series of sensorimotor and motor imagery tasks involving the right, the left plegic, and the SPL’s hand.”

Phantom Limb Patient

Study shows brain activity associated with phantom limbs

For more details of this study, see the public release on EurekAltert! which “shows brain activity associated with phantom limbs … patients have reported seeing their phantom limb or feeling objects or body parts with it.” (Geneva, Switzerland – March 25, 2009)

Also see the Medical News Today report that brain activity was discovered with the movement of this patient’s phantom arm and hand: “When asked to scratch her cheek with the SPL,

areas of the brain associated with movement and vision were activated, which confirmed her report that she could see and move her SPL.”

Ψ

“In addition, a measurable sensory response was also detected when she scratched her left cheek with the SPL.”

Blavatsky’s Genius

H. P. Blavatsky

Helena Blavatsky was endowed from her childhood with remarkable psychic powers. Throughout her lifetime, she was adept in several psychic abilities that included levitation, clairvoyance, out-of-body projection, telepathy, clairaudience and materialization.

Theosophist Manly P. Hall writes of Madame Blavatsky in The Phoenix: An Illustrated Review Of Occultism And Philosophy: “Madam Blavatsky’s greatest ‘miracles’ are her books, and by her writings, she is elevated far beyond the reach of her calumniators.

Her literary accomplishments and not materialized tea-cups are the hallmark of her genius.”

Life on Spaceship Earth and the Overview Effect

NASA Astronaut Tracy Caldwell

DURING the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893, the Theosophical Society participated in the first World’s Parliament of Religions.

Pioneer theosophist and co-founder of the Theosophical Society William Q. Judge served as permanent chairman of the Theosophical Congress, whose presentation of its ideals and principles drew increasingly larger audiences.

“I have been requested to speak on the subject of universal brotherhood,” he explained, “not as a theory, not as a Utopian dream which can never be realized; not as a fact in society, not as a fact in government — but as a fact in nature:

that universal brotherhood is an actual thing, whether it is recognized or whether it is not.

“Every nation, every civilization has brought forward this doctrine, and the facts of history show us that, more than at any other time … have seen this doctrine violated in society, in government, and in nations. So that at last men have come to say, ‘Universal brotherhood is very beautiful; it is something that we all desire, but it is impossible to realize.’ With one word they declare the noble doctrine, and with the other they deny the possibility of its ever being realized.”

Evidence of an Immortal Mind in Man and Nature

In the Matrix

MAINSTREAM science looking for the source of consciousness insists its origin has to be generated in the physical brain.

Most neuroscientists agree that all cognition arises from the activity of neurons attached to specific structures, which have fixed brain locations.

Yet many credible scientific researchers today are unconvinced and dispute these biased mainstream materialistic assumptions.

Open-minded investigators are willing to pursue truth wherever it leads, even exploring evidence that mind and its corresponding consciousness is a living entity independent of the physical structures through which it manifests.

But because research findings on this question upset established assumptions, it is frequently ignored by mainstream science. H. P. Blavatsky found the same evidence in her own era declaring:

We live in an age of prejudice, dissimulation and paradox, wherein, like dry leaves caught in a whirlpool, we are tossed helpless, hither and thither, ever struggling between our honest convictions and fear of that cruelest of tyrants—PUBLIC OPINION.

-H. P. Blavatsky, A Paradoxical World

Caught in a whirlpool of dry leaves. (Flickr)

Yet, poised fearlessly at the cutting edge of psi research are scientific organizations such as the respected Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) in Petaluma, California, and the Institute of HeartMath in Boulder Creek. These researchers, and others, like NES energy medicine, are willing to take a leap in pursuit of the fast-moving “soul of things.”

Many frontier investigators risk being minimized and shunned by their peers—their careers stalled as funding dries up.

Such investigations were formerly the exclusive precinct of canny ancient intuitives and seers. Today there are many qualified, sincere scientific investigators on the hunt for answers to the puzzling questions of consciousness that stymie mainstream science.

Buddha meditating under the Bo Tree

“The Secret Doctrine is the accumulated Wisdom of the Ages, and its cosmogony alone is the most stupendous and elaborate system,” Mme. Blavatsky wrote.

“The facts which have actually occupied countless generations of initiated seers and prophets to marshal, to set down and explain, in the bewildering series of evolutionary progress, are all recorded on a few pages of geometrical signs and glyphs.”

The flashing gaze of those seers has penetrated into the very kernel of matter, and recorded the soul of things there.

“The genuine texts of the Upanishads treat of and expound the secret and mystic meaning of the Vedic texts. They speak of the origin of the Universe, the nature of Deity, and of Spirit and Soul, as also of the metaphysical connection of mind and matter. In a few words: They contain the beginning and the end of all human knowledgebut they have now ceased to reveal it, since the day of Buddha. . . . One thing in them — and this in all the Upanishads — invariably and constantly points to their ancient origin.”

“But modern science believes not in the ‘soul of things,’ and hence will reject the whole system of ancient cosmogony.”

The Secret Doctrine 1:272

Now all this may be changing . . .

A Law of Nature: Everyone is Psychic

COHERENT consciousness creates order in the world, and subtle interactions link us with each other and the Earth.

According to H. P. Blavatsky, “the ‘separateness’ which we feel between ourselves and the world of living beings around us is an illusion, not a reality.”

“We intend to prove,” she wrote in her article Kosmic Mind, “that modern science … is itself on the eve of discovering that consciousness is universal.”

The Third Object of the Theosophical Movement “the Investigation of the unexplained laws of nature and the psychical powers latent in man,” intended to establish, according to the Founder H. P. Blavatsky, that “the ‘separateness’ which we feel between ourselves and the world of living beings around us is an illusion, not a reality.”

The Secret Doctrine (1:272)

This checking, testing, verifying and confirming is the ideal method claimed to be followed by our modern scientists, seeking the truth wherever it might be found. Too often, though,  materialism creeps in, preventing them from following the evidence wherever it leads.

True Astrology: Our Destiny is Written in the Stars

Destiny of Stars

ASTROLOGY is only superstition, most modern scientists believe. Yet, true science and philosophy seeks “rather to solve than to deny,” says Theosophy.

“It is an axiom of the philosophic student,” H. P. Blavatsky affirmed, “that truth generally lies between the extremes.” This is what the ancients meant by Astrology she insisted.

For more info click: Astrology, Numbers, and Destiny

“Mention the word ‘astrology’ and skeptics go into an epileptic fit,” natural health researcher Mike Adams says.

“The idea that someone’s personality could be imprinted at birth according to the position of the sun, moon, and planets,” Adams notes, “has long been derided as ‘quackery’ by the so-called ‘scientific’ community which resists any notion based on holistic connections between individuals and the cosmos.

“According to the conventional view, your genes and your parenting determine your personality, and the position of planet Earth at the time of your birth has nothing to do with it.”

Our Genes

As H. P. Blavatsky in The Secret Doctrine 1:272, explained:

modern science believes not in the ‘soul of things,’ and hence will reject the whole system of ancient cosmogony.

“Seasonal Biology”

“Then again, conventional scientists don’t believe the position of the moon has anything to do with life on Earth, either,” Adams writes. “They dismiss the wisdom that farmers have known for ages — that planting seeds or transplanting living plants in harmony with the moon cycles results in higher crop yields. Even the seeds inside humans are strongly influenced by the moon, as menstruation cycles and moon cycles are closely synchronized (28 days, roughly).”

“And recently, scientific studies showing planetary imprinting called ‘seasonal biology’ have confirmed the underlying principle of astrology. The scientific study shows that planetary positions do, surprisingly, influence our biological clocks. Why not our psychological and mental states as well?”

Biological Imprinting

Occult Influences

“The ancients always considered the ‘ambient’ – or entire heaven – at birth,” Blavatsky colleague William Q. Judge wrote in Astrological Influences, “as being that which affected man.”

New Age Guru, H. P. Blavatsky, referred often to astrology in her Theosophical writings, as in the following lines from “The Theosophist” in Blavatsky Collected Writings compiled by Boris de Zircoff.

Although a study of the science of astronomy may enable us “to determine what the course of events will be,” she maintained, adding:

the clock indicates, it does not
influence the time.

Discovery

Thus, she said: “though the planets may have no hand in changing the destiny of man, still their position may indicate what that destiny is likely to be.”

And a distant traveler has often to put right his clock, so that it may indicate correctly the time of the place he visits.

Events for several years to come, “the producing and efficient causes,” Judge wrote, “are always laid down with enough definiteness to permit the seer to see them in advance, as if they were present.”

“It is a faculty common to all men,” Judge comments, “though in the majority but slightly developed.”

“Occultism asserts,” he wrote, “that were it not for the germ of this power slightly active in every one, no man could convey to another any idea whatsoever.”

Using the psi power, often called ‘clairvoyance,’ “all images stored in the Astral Light,” Judge wrote in The Ocean of Theosophy

“pass before the inner vision and are reflected into the physical eye from within. They then appear objectively to the seer.”

It was the “flashing gaze” of “countless generations” of initiated seers and prophets, H. P. Blavatsky declared in The Secret Doctrine (1:272), that penetrated “into the very kernel of matter, and recorded the soul of things there.” Those facts, established using the same method of modern science, were to become the perennial teachings furthered by modern Theosophy.

Those early wise men, she noted, “had passed their lives in learningnot teaching. How did they do so? It is answered: by checking, testing, and verifying in every department of nature the traditions of old by the independent visions of great adepts; i.e., men who have developed and perfected their physical, mental, psychic, and spiritual organisations to the utmost possible degree.

“No vision of one adept was accepted till it was checked and confirmed by the visions — so obtained as to stand as independent evidence — of other adepts, and by centuries of experiences.” This checking, testing, verifying and confirming is the method supposed to be used by modern Science. “Our Destiny is Written in the Stars”

Destiny of Stars

ASTROLOGY is unscientific superstition most modern scientists believe. Yet, true philosophy seeks “rather to solve than to deny” says Theosophy.

“It is an axiom of the philosophic student,” Blavatsky affirmed, “that truth generally lies between the extremes.” This is what the ancients meant by Astrology she insisted.

“Mention the word ‘astrology’ and skeptics go into an epileptic fit,” natural health researcher Mike Adams says.

“The idea that someone’s personality could be imprinted at birth according to the position of the sun, moon and planets,” Adams notes, “has long been derided as ‘quackery’ by the so-called ‘scientific’ community which resists any notion based on holistic connections between individuals and the cosmos.

“According to the conventional view, your genes and your parenting determine your personality, and the position of planet Earth at the time of your birth has nothing to do with it.”

Our Genes

As H. P. Blavatsky in The Secret Doctrine 1:272, put it:

modern science believes not in the ‘soul of things,’ and hence will reject the whole system of ancient cosmogony.

And recently, scientific studies showing planetary imprinting called “seasonal biology” have confirmed the underlying principle of astrology. The scientific study shows that planetary positions do, surprisingly, influence our biological clocks. Why not our psychological and mental states as well?

Biological Imprinting

Occult Influences

“The ancients always considered the ‘ambient’ – or entire heaven – at birth,” Blavatsky colleague William Q. Judge wrote in Astrological Influences, “as being that which affected man.”

New Age Guru, H. P. Blavatsky, referred often to astrology in her Theosophical writings, as in the following lines from “The Theosophist” in Blavatsky Collected Writings compiled by Boris de Zircoff.

Although a study of the science of astronomy may enable us “to determine what the course of events will be,” she maintained, but adds a but if common sense:

the clock indicates, it does not
influence the time.

Discovery

Thus, she says, “though the planets may have no hand in changing the destiny of man, still their position may indicate what that destiny is likely to be.”

And a distant traveler has often to put right his clock, so that it may indicate correctly the time of the place he visits.

Our Heart’s Field Effect: Spiritual, Psychic and Physical

The Heart Field

THE Cheyenne say that “our first teacher is our own heart,” but mainstream science offers few apples to that master teacher.

To our Western medical mainstream the heart is no more than a mechanical blood pumping device.

That view is beginning to change. The medical community is being challenged to expand its thinking holistically to incorporate human spirituality, biology, health, and wellness.

Leading-edge research in holistic medicine, biophysics, bioenergetics, and biocentrism all point in the same direction — showing that our bodies are more than physical molecules and chemicals.

Explaining why and how we are more, H. P. Blavatsky asserted in The Secret Doctrine (2:149) that “The whole issue of the quarrel between the profane and the esoteric sciences, depends upon the belief in, and demonstration of,

the existence of an astral body within the physical, the former independent of the latter.”

H. P. Blavatsky

“Apart from Cosmic Substance, Cosmic Ideation could not manifest as individual consciousness,” Blavatsky wrote, “since it is only through a vehicle of matter that consciousness wells up as ‘I am I,’ a physical basis being necessary to focus a ray of the Universal Mind at a certain stage of complexity.”

[A physical candle would never be confused for the light, nor for the flame which energizes it — but clearly, without the physical candle no light would happen!]

One candle lighting another.

“Again, apart from Cosmic Ideation, Cosmic Substance would remain an empty abstraction, and no emergence of consciousness could ensue. The ‘Manifested Universe,’ therefore, is pervaded by duality, which is, as it were, the very essence of its ex-istence as ‘manifestation.'”

“The Hindus say that the Universe is Brahma and Brahma, for Brahma is in every atom of the universe, the six principles in Nature being all the outcome — the variously differentiated aspects — of the seventh and one, the only reality in the Universe whether Cosmical or micro-cosmical.”

Individual and Cosmic

“And also why the permutations (psychic, spiritual and physical), on the plane of manifestation and form, are viewed by metaphysical antiphrasis as illusive and Mayavic. For although the root of every atom individually and of every form collectively, is that seventh principle, or the one Reality, still, in its manifested phenomenal and temporary appearance, it is no better than an evanescent illusion of our senses.”

The Secret Doctrine 1:15-21

The Astral Body

A comparable concept to the occult teaching is explained by today’s frontier science in the ‘biofield’ concept – a human body-field that is described as a structured web of information and energy that underlies and informs our physical body, and rules our state of health and well-being.

“The astral body is made of matter of very fine texture as compared with the visible body, and has a great tensile strength, so that it changes but little during a lifetime, while the physical alters every moment.”

“And not only has it this immense strength, but at the same time possesses an elasticity permitting its extension to a considerable distance. It is flexible, plastic, extensible, and strong. The matter of which it is composed is electrical and magnetic in its essence.”

The surrounding astral matrix.

“The astral body has in it the real organs of the outer sense organs. In it are the sight, hearing, power to smell, and the sense of touch. It has a complete system of nerves and arteries of its own for the conveyance of the astral fluid which is to that body as our blood is to the physical. It is the real personal man.”

“There are located the subconscious perception and the latent memory, which the hypnotizers of the day are dealing with and being baffled by.

The astral body is the guiding model for the physical one, and all the other kingdoms have the same astral model.”

“This term comes near to the real fact, since the substance of this form is derived from cosmic matter or star matter, roughly speaking. But the old Sanskrit word describes it exactly — Linga Sarira, the design body — because it is the design or model for the physical body.”

William Q. Judge, The Ocean of Theosophy, Ch. 5

Astral Projection

Mainstream Science is still myopic to the emerging cognitive evidence that consciousness may not be dependent solely on the physical brain.

The Secret Universe Part 2: Nature’s Human Magnets

Cirque du Soleil Dralion

RULING the Earth is not the “god” gravity, as taught by modern science, but something much more powerful, and even closer to home.

That something is the universal Tibetan god “Fohat”or electro-magnetism, the central principle of Theosophy defined as a conscious electro-spiritual power.

In defiance of modern science’s gravity god, magnetism and electricity are on their face the real universal forces, twins underpinning nature and the infinite cosmos — from fireflies to huge galaxies, to the mysterious invisible atom.

Mainstream physicists are still stuck on gravity to support their dubious ‘standard model.’  Science still insists that gravity alone (a secondary force according to Theosophy) runs the whole universe — yet, as with magnetism, science really understands very little about either force.

“It seems that the Sun does not even ‘respect’ gravity,” the Thunderbolts site reports: “The mass of charged particles expelled by the Sun as the solar wind continues to accelerate beyond Mercury, Venus, and Earth.

“Solar prominences and coronal mass ejections do not obey gravity either. Nor does sunspot migration.”

“Nor does the movement of the atmosphere, since the upper layers rotate faster than the lower, reversing the situation predicted by theory,” Thunderbolts physicists demonstrate, “while the equatorial atmosphere completes its rotation more rapidly than the atmosphere at higher latitudes, another reversal of predicted motions.”

The Electric Sun

But back to Earth, a young Serbian schoolgirl amazed doctors  with her astonishing magnetic hands, which, like our Sun — following the Hermetic axiom,”as above, so below” — possessed gravity defying power.  And, as to the Sun, we are dependent for life on the ‘little sun’ in our bodies — the heart.

Just as there is a regular circulation of the ‘blood’ or life fluid throughout our solar system, the Sun is the heart of the solar system.

It is “the same as the circulation of the blood in the human body or life,” says occult science (SD 1:541) — “the Sun contracting as rhythmically at every return of it, as the human heart does.”

Serbian school girl Jelena Momicilov

“Everything in the universe follows the rule of analogy,” Blavatsky assures her readers in The Secret Doctrine (1:177). “Man is the microcosm of the Universe. That which takes place on the spiritual plane repeats itself on the Cosmic plane.

“Concretion follows the lines of abstraction; corresponding to the highest must be the lowest; the material to the spiritual.”

The Overview Effect: Universal Brotherhood a Fact in Nature

Jodie Foster, the movie “Contact”

DURING the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893, the Theosophical Society participated in the first World’s Parliament of Religions.

William Q. Judge served as permanent chairman of the Theosophical Congress, whose presentation of its ideals and principles drew increasingly larger audiences.

“I have been requested to speak on the subject of universal brotherhood . . . not as a theory, not as a Utopian dream which can never be realized; not as a fact in society, not as a fact in government — but as a fact in nature:

that universal brotherhood is an actual thing, whether it is recognized or whether it is not.

“The Investigation of the Unexplained laws of Nature and the Psychical Powers Latent in Man”

COHERENT consciousness creates order in the world, and numberless and continuous subtle connections link us with each other and Nature.

“We intend to prove,” she wrote in her article Kosmic Mind, “that modern science … is itself on the eve of discovering that consciousness is universal.”

The Third Object of the Theosophical Movement “the Investigation of the unexplained laws of nature and the psychical powers latent in man,” was intended to investigate, according to the Founder H. P. “We have to subtract out the heart artifact from the brainwaves when we record, so strong is the signal.”

Healing Miracles of Mind, Intention and Belief

In the Matrix

MAINSTREAM science looking for the source of consciousness, insist its origin must be located in the physical brain.

They are certain that all cognition arises from the activity of neurons attached to specific structures, which have fixed locations.

Yet many credible scientific researchers today are unconvinced, and dispute these assumptions.

Such open minded investigators are willing to pursue truth wherever it leads, even to evidence that consciousness is a independent entity from the physical structures through which it manifests.

But because research findings on this question upset established assumptions, it is ignored by mainstream science.

Leaves in the wind.

Frontier investigators risk being minimized and shunned by their peers—and their careers stalled as funding sources dry up.

Ω

Yet, poised fearlessly at the cutting edge of psi research are scientific organizations such as the respected Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) in Petaluma, California, and the Institute of HeartMath in Boulder Creek. These researchers, and others, like NES energy medicine, are willing to take a leap in pursuit of the fast-moving “soul of things.”

Such investigations were formerly the exclusive precinct of canny ancient intuitives and seers. Today there are numerous qualified, sincere scientific investigators on the hunt for answers to the puzzling questions of consciousness that stymie mainstream science.

Buddha under the Bo Tree

“The flashing gaze of those seers has penetrated into the very kernel of matter, and recorded the soul of things there.”

Materialistic science still “believes not in the ‘soul of things,'” Mme. Blavatsky declared forcefully in The Secret Doctrine 1:272

Now all this may be changing . . .

The Web of Life: A Conscious Universe, Part 1

My Conscious Universe

THE acceptance of new ideas in Science “follows a predictable, four-stage sequence,” says the Institute of Noetic Sciences chief scientist Dr. Dean Radin, PhD.

In an excerpt from Chapter 1 of his landmark work “The Conscious Universe,” Dr. Radin describes the four progressive stages of discovery and acceptance in science.

In Stage 1 skeptics confidently proclaim that the idea is impossible because it violates the Laws of Science. This stage can last from years to centuries, depending on how much the idea challenges conventional wisdom.

“In Stage 2 skeptics reluctantly concede that the idea is possible, but it is not very interesting and the claimed effects are extremely weak.

“Stage 3 begins when the mainstream realizes that the idea is not only important, but its effects are much stronger and more pervasive than previously imagined.”

“Stage 4 is achieved when the same critics who used to disavow any interest in the idea begin to proclaim that they thought of it first. Eventually, no one remembers that the idea was once considered a dangerous heresy.”

The Conscious Universe,” Dr. Dean Radin

The Convergence of
Science and Spirituality

“The possible truths, hazily perceived in the world of abstraction, like those inferred from observation and experiment in the world of matter, are forced upon the profane multitudes, too busy to think for themselves, under the form of Divine revelation and scientific authority.”  – H. P. Blavatsky, What is Truth?

“Truth” by Warner Highsmith, bronze door at main entrance of the Library of Congress.

“Where then is even relative truth to be found? If, so far back as the century of Democritus, she appeared to him under the form of a goddess lying at the very bottom of a well, so deep that it gave but little hope for her release.

“Under the present circumstances we have a certain right to believe her hidden, at least, as far off as the ever invisible dark side of the moon. This is why, perhaps, all the votaries of hidden truths are forthwith Set down as lunatics.”

– H. P. Blavatsky, “What is Truth?”

The Third Eye

According to 19th century German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer, “All truth passes through three stages: First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as self-evident.”

The renegade truth seeking cosmologists David Talbott and Wallace Thornhill,  protagonists of  the Electric Universe idea (The Thunderbolts Project) declare: “There are no isolated islands in an electric universe, from the smallest particle to the largest galactic formation.” They maintain further, agreeable to H. P. Blavatsky’s The Secret Doctrine, thatThe Secret Doc, that

Web of Life

“A web of electrical circuitry connects and unifies all of nature, organizing galaxies, energizing stars, giving birth to planets.”

Talbott and Thornhill assert, controversially, that “this electric web is controlling weather and animating biological organisms.”

Astronomers like to believe the Sun is no more than a glowing nuclear furnace. That “galaxies are clouds of hydrogen gas and intergalactic dust,” Thunderbolts Project scientist Stephen Smith says in his article The Filamentary Firmament.   That they were all “assembled by gravity until they coalesced into swarms of glowing thermonuclear fires.”

“The Electric Universe theory” disagrees with this standard model, Smith says, and “is opposed to the idea of galaxies condensed from cold, inert hydrogen.”

Plasma Globe

Is The Sun Conscious?

“When a medieval person looked at the sky they looked at a living universe, filled with the presence of God, every star was a living, intelligent being. The mechanistic revolution replaced that with the idea that everything is a machine.

“What if these electrical patterns in the Sun are an interface with the Sun’s mind? What if the Sun thinks? As soon as you raise that question you realize it is an utterly taboo subject. You’re not allowed to ask that question.  It’s simply off limits.”  – Rupert Sheldrake, PhD

Electric Sun

“When you look into the blue sky on a sunny day do you glimpse a ball of nuclear fire or, as the London poet and mystic, William Blake, reported, the heavenly host singing God’s praises?

“It’s an old question, revived today by the notion of panpsychism which suggests that the sun might in some way be considered conscious.”

– Rupert Sheldrake, (Is Consciousness Fundamental?)

“Matter, after all, is nothing else than the sequence of our own states of consciousness, and Spirit an idea of psychic intuition.”

– H. P. Blavatsky, (The Secret Doctrine 1:542)

Consciousness is Universal

Plasma is not Gravity

“Strands of magnetically confined plasma can be seen throughout the cosmos,” Smith argues: “In an Electric Universe, every body in the Solar System, along with every star and galaxy, is charged with electricity and exists within a plasma environment.”

Electric Universe

Likewise, The Secret Doctrine establishes an electric universe. And that our Sun,  driven by electricity and magnetism and other mysterious conscious forces,  like all Suns, is the true heart of the solar system.

Radically at odds with modern cosmologists, Blavatsky  also considered gravity a secondary terrestrial law, an effect of the former rather than a cause.

“The law of gravitation has no right
to be referred to as an universal law.”

“They call Gravity a law, a cause in itself. We call the forces acting under that name effects, and very secondary effects, too. One day it will be found that the scientific hypothesis does not answer after all.”

The Secret Doctrine  (1:490-498)

Plasma in Space

“Today, nothing is more important to the future and credibility of science than liberation from the gravity-driven universe,” say Talbott and Thornhill: “A mistaken supposition has not only prevented intelligent and sincere investigators from seeing what would otherwise be obvious, it has bred indifference to possibilities that could have inspired the sciences for decades.”

The Lucid Zone: Everyone Has Their Own

LORD Krishna the famed deity of Hinduism, pegged the complex duality of our human minds more than five thousand years ago.

In the Bhagavad-Gita Krishna instructs his disciple Arjuna on the paradoxical nature of the mind and senses — all while the pair were in the middle of a battlefield with arrows flying.

The “Self is the friend of self, and in like manner, self is its own enemy” Krishna cautions the reluctant warrior Arjuna in Chapter Six.

The ancient wisdom-teaching of dueling human selves was much more than a symbolic morality play. And the unavoidable reality is preserved in our own living flesh, dynamically channeling through the dual hemispheres of our physical brain.

One of Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in The World,” neuroanatomist, Jill Bolte Taylor, PhD, describes the phenomenon in what she calls her “Stroke of Genius,” her book with that title. The story of her life-and-death ordeal dramatizes the paradoxical psycho-physiological puzzle of spirit, mind and physical brain.

As Jill recounts her experience, in a brief interview, we get a picture of the two physical halves of the brain, and how each is called to be a unique vehicle  expressing the Yin-Yang of “self.”

Changing Your Face: What It’s Like to Die

Changing Your Face

According to tradition, the Buddha’s dying words were (freely translated): “all compounds are perishable.”
It was not man’s immortal spirit he meant. Rather, Buddha was pointing to the temporary physical, passionate, personal and psychic parts of us.

Our deathless spirit uses sensory and physical vehicles merely as instruments of expression in every new ly minted life.

Functionally linked those parts are temporary and are separated from each other at death. They are reduced to their primal elements, like the fuel of a fire, recycled and returned back to Universal Nature, their primal state.

The process is entirely natural, the recycling of renewable substances of evolution, of the temporal forces and materials required for an earthly body:

“Dust thou art,” states Genesis (3:19), “and unto dust thou shalt return”— referring to those perishable parts of man’s complex construction.

By contrast, in a dream, “the Spirit of man is free,” as the occult teaching of the Brihad Aranyaka Upanishad (13) declared, “and naught adheres to the Spirit.”

spiritvision

Death is Sleep

Mme. Blavatsky agreed with the Upanishads, and explains in the Key to Theosophy (109) that “death ever comes to our spiritual selves as a deliverer and friend.” And for the average mortal, “it will be a dream as vivid as life, and full of realistic bliss and visions.”

Even for the materialist, who, “notwithstanding his materialism, was not a bad man, the interval between the two lives will be like the unbroken and placid sleep of a child,” Blavatsky wrote.

“As the man at the moment of death has a retrospective insight into the life he has led, so, at the moment he is reborn on to earth. He has a prospective vision of the life which awaits him and realizes all the causes that have led to it.

chasing_dreams

Chasing Dreams

“He realizes them and sees futurity, because it is between [the bliss filled after-death dream state called] Devachan and re-birth, that the Ego regains his full [spiritual mind] manasic consciousness, and re-becomes for a short time the god he was —before he first descended into matter and incarnated in flesh, in compliance with Karmic law.”

“The ‘golden thread’ sees all its ‘pearls’ and misses not one of them.” – H. P. Blavatsky

“I repeat it: death is sleep. After death, before the spiritual eyes of the soul begins a performance according to a programme learnt and very often unconsciously composed by ourselves: the practical carrying out of correct beliefs or of illusions which have been created by ourselves. The Methodist will be Methodist, the Mussulman a Mussulman, at least for some time — in a perfect fool’s paradise of each man’s creation and making.

Fools Paradise

“These are the post-mortem fruits of the tree of life. Naturally, our belief or unbelief in the fact of conscious immortality is unable to influence the unconditioned reality of the fact itself, once that it exists; but the belief or unbelief in that immortality as the property of independent or separate entities, cannot fail to give colour to that fact in its application to each of these entities. Now do you begin to understand it?”

Dreaming is a Crucial Mental State

WHEN our thick brains get all heated up worrying about life’s complexities, that’s often  the best time to kick off our shoes, and give it a rest.

Faced with a critical decision, or stuck on a complex problem, researchers have discovered that sleeping or napping on them often lead to a right direction or decision.

“In a Wonderland they lie, Dreaming as the days go by, Dreaming as the summers die,” Lewis Carroll wrote of children:

“Ever drifting down the stream— Lingering in the golden gleam — Life, what is it but a dream?”

As adults the notes of a song, the smell of burning leaves, the babbling of a mountain brook, a day-dream — all may open doors to another realm of poetic mind. They also arouse unexpected emotions and reminiscences.

In Wordsworth’s haunting poem “Ode on Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood,” reveries opened for him an unexpected awareness of past lives, the realization he had lived before.

“Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting;
The Soul that rises with us, our life’s Star,
Hath had elsewhere its setting
