Esoteric Astrology: “Our Destiny is Written in the Stars”

Angelic

MOST modern scientists believe that astrology is merely superstition. Yet, true science and philosophy seeks “rather to solve than to deny,” says Theosophy.

In other words to solve using the scientific method of “checking, testing and verifying in every department of nature.”

(“Summing Up” in The Secret Doctrine, Volume 1, pages 272-278):

By means of “the independent visions of great adepts; i.e., men who have developed and perfected their physical, mental, psychic and spiritual organisations to the utmost possible degree.

“No vision of one adept was accepted till it was checked and confirmed

by the visions — so obtained as to stand as independent evidence — of other adepts, and by centuries of experiences.

“It is the uninterrupted record covering thousands of generations of Seers whose respective experiences were made to test and to verify the traditions passed orally by one early race to another, of the teachings of higher and exalted beings, who watched over the childhood of Humanity.”

Initiated Seers

“It is an axiom of the philosophic student,” H. P. Blavatsky affirmed, “that truth generally lies between the extremes.”

“Now it is a well-known principle of Occultism that the ONE LIFE, which pervades ALL, connects all the bodies in space. All heavenly bodies have thus mutual relation, which is blended with man’s existence, since he is but a microcosm in the macrocosm.

“Every thought, as much as action, is dynamic and is impressed in the imperishable Book of Nature – the Akasa, the objective aspect of the UNMANIFESTED LIFE.

All our thoughts and actions thus produce the vibrations in space, which mould our future career.

“And astrology is a science, which having determined the nature of the laws that govern these vibrations is able to state precisely a particular or a series of results, the causes of which have already been produced by the individual in his previous life.”

Return of Childhood

“Since the present incarnation is the child of the previous one, and since there is but that. ONE LIFE which holds together all the planets of the Solar system, the position of those planets at the time of the birth of an individual – which event is the aggregate result of the causes already produced – gives to the true Astrologer the data upon which to base his predictions.”

“Mention the word ‘astrology’ and skeptics go into an epileptic fit,” natural health researcher Mike Adams complained.

“The idea that someone’s personality could be imprinted at birth according to the position of the sun, moon, and planets,” Adams notes, “has long been derided as ‘quackery’ by the so-called ‘scientific’ community which resists any notion based on holistic connections between individuals and the cosmos.

Our Genes

“According to the conventional view, your genes and your parenting determine your personality, and the position of planet Earth at the time of your birth has nothing to do with it.”

Indeed. H. P. Blavatsky in The Secret Doctrine 1:272, agreed:

modern science believes not in the ‘soul of things,’ and hence will reject the whole system of ancient cosmogony.

Seasonal Biology

“Then again, conventional scientists don’t believe the position of the moon has anything to do with life on Earth, either,” Adams writes. “They dismiss the wisdom that farmers have known for ages — that planting seeds or transplanting living plants in harmony with the moon cycles results in higher crop yields. Even the seeds inside humans are strongly influenced by the moon, as menstruation cycles and moon cycles are closely synchronized (28 days, roughly).”

“And recently, scientific studies showing planetary imprinting called ‘seasonal biology’ have confirmed the underlying principle of astrology. The scientific study shows that planetary positions do, surprisingly, influence our biological clocks. Why not our psychological and mental states as well?”

Biological Imprinting

Occult Influences

“The ancients always considered the ‘ambient’ – or entire heaven – at birth,” Blavatsky colleague William Q. Judge wrote in Astrological Influences, “as being that which affected man.”

H. P. Blavatsky, referred often to astrology in her Theosophical writings, as in the following lines from “The Theosophist” in H.P Blavatsky’s Article: Astrology, Numbers and Destiny.

Although a study of the science of astronomy may enable us “to determine what the course of events will be,” she explained:

the clock indicates, it does not
influence the time.

Discovery

And, she wrote: “though the planets may have no hand in changing the destiny of man, still their position may indicate what that destiny is likely to be.”

And a distant traveler has often to put right his clock, so that it may indicate correctly the time of the place he visits.

Our Queen Sister, the Morning and Evening Star

Hayley Westenra

“NO STAR among the countless myriads that twinkle over the sidereal fields of the night sky,” wrote Helena Blavatsky, “shines so dazzlingly as the planet Venus.”

“Venus is the queen among our planets, the crown jewel of our solar system.”

“She is the inspirer of the poet, the guardian and companion of the lonely shepherd,” she wrote, “the lovely morning and the evening star.”

“For, ‘Stars teach as well as shine,’ although their secrets are still untold and unrevealed to the majority of men, including astronomers.”

They are ‘a beauty
and a mystery,’ verily.

“This story shall now be told, for the benefit of those who may have neglected their astral mythology. Venus, characterized by Pythagoras as the sol alter, a second Sun, on account of her magnificent radiance – equaled by none other – was the first to draw the attention of ancient Theogonists.”

Bright Stars

“Venus, characterized by Pythagoras as the sol alter, a second Sun, on account of her magnificent radiance – equaled by none other was the first to draw the attention of ancient Theogonists.

Before it began to be called Venus, it was known in pre-Hesiodic theogony as Eosphoros (or Phosphoros), and Hesperos, the children of the dawn and twilight.

The Web of Life: A Conscious Universe, Part 1

My Conscious Universe

THE acceptance of new ideas in Science “follows a predictable, four-stage sequence,” says the Institute of Noetic Sciences chief scientist Dr. Dean Radin, PhD.

In an excerpt from Chapter 1 of his landmark work “The Conscious Universe,” Dr. Radin describes the four progressive stages of discovery and acceptance in science.

In Stage 1 skeptics confidently proclaim that the idea is impossible because it violates the Laws of Science. This stage can last from years to centuries, depending on how much the idea challenges conventional wisdom.

“In Stage 2 skeptics reluctantly concede that the idea is possible, but it is not very interesting and the claimed effects are extremely weak.

“Stage 3 begins when the mainstream realizes that the idea is not only important, but its effects are much stronger and more pervasive than previously imagined.”

“Stage 4 is achieved when the same critics who used to disavow any interest in the idea begin to proclaim that they thought of it first. Eventually, no one remembers that the idea was once considered a dangerous heresy.”

The Conscious Universe,” Dr. Dean Radin

The Convergence of
Science and Spirituality

“The possible truths, hazily perceived in the world of abstraction, like those inferred from observation and experiment in the world of matter, are forced upon the profane multitudes, too busy to think for themselves, under the form of Divine revelation and scientific authority.”  – H. P. Blavatsky, What is Truth?

“Truth” by Warner Highsmith, bronze door at main entrance of the Library of Congress.

“Where then is even relative truth to be found? If, so far back as the century of Democritus, she appeared to him under the form of a goddess lying at the very bottom of a well, so deep that it gave but little hope for her release.

“Under the present circumstances we have a certain right to believe her hidden, at least, as far off as the ever invisible dark side of the moon. This is why, perhaps, all the votaries of hidden truths are forthwith Set down as lunatics.”

– H. P. Blavatsky, “What is Truth?”

The Third Eye

According to 19th century German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer, “All truth passes through three stages: First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as self-evident.”

The renegade truth seeking cosmologists David Talbott and Wallace Thornhill,  protagonists of  the Electric Universe idea (The Thunderbolts Project) declare: “There are no isolated islands in an electric universe, from the smallest particle to the largest galactic formation.” They maintain further, agreeable to H. P. Blavatsky’s The Secret Doctrine, thatThe Secret Doc, that

Web of Life

“A web of electrical circuitry connects and unifies all of nature, organizing galaxies, energizing stars, giving birth to planets.”

Talbott and Thornhill assert, controversially, that “this electric web is controlling weather and animating biological organisms.”

Astronomers like to believe the Sun is no more than a glowing nuclear furnace. That “galaxies are clouds of hydrogen gas and intergalactic dust,” Thunderbolts Project scientist Stephen Smith says in his article The Filamentary Firmament.   That they were all “assembled by gravity until they coalesced into swarms of glowing thermonuclear fires.”

“The Electric Universe theory” disagrees with this standard model, Smith says, and “is opposed to the idea of galaxies condensed from cold, inert hydrogen.”

Plasma Globe

Is The Sun Conscious?

“When a medieval person looked at the sky they looked at a living universe, filled with the presence of God, every star was a living, intelligent being. The mechanistic revolution replaced that with the idea that everything is a machine.

“What if these electrical patterns in the Sun are an interface with the Sun’s mind? What if the Sun thinks? As soon as you raise that question you realize it is an utterly taboo subject. You’re not allowed to ask that question.  It’s simply off limits.”  – Rupert Sheldrake, PhD

Electric Sun

“When you look into the blue sky on a sunny day do you glimpse a ball of nuclear fire or, as the London poet and mystic, William Blake, reported, the heavenly host singing God’s praises?

“It’s an old question, revived today by the notion of panpsychism which suggests that the sun might in some way be considered conscious.”

– Rupert Sheldrake, (Is Consciousness Fundamental?)

“Matter, after all, is nothing else than the sequence of our own states of consciousness, and Spirit an idea of psychic intuition.”

– H. P. Blavatsky, (The Secret Doctrine 1:542)

Consciousness is Universal

Plasma is not Gravity

“Strands of magnetically confined plasma can be seen throughout the cosmos,” Smith argues: “In an Electric Universe, every body in the Solar System, along with every star and galaxy, is charged with electricity and exists within a plasma environment.”

Electric Universe

Likewise, The Secret Doctrine establishes an electric universe. And that our Sun,  driven by electricity and magnetism and other mysterious conscious forces,  like all Suns, is the true heart of the solar system.

Radically at odds with modern cosmologists, Blavatsky  also considered gravity a secondary terrestrial law, an effect of the former rather than a cause.

“The law of gravitation has no right
to be referred to as an universal law.”

“They call Gravity a law, a cause in itself. We call the forces acting under that name effects, and very secondary effects, too. One day it will be found that the scientific hypothesis does not answer after all.”

The Secret Doctrine  (1:490-498)

Plasma in Space

“Today, nothing is more important to the future and credibility of science than liberation from the gravity-driven universe,” say Talbott and Thornhill: “A mistaken supposition has not only prevented intelligent and sincere investigators from seeing what would otherwise be obvious, it has bred indifference to possibilities that could have inspired the sciences for decades.”

Sacred Symbols of Initiation, and the Solstice

Celtic Woman

MANY witnesses believe that crop circle formations are a modern spiritual mythology, embedding symbol-encoded occult messages.

These living symbols appear mysteriously every summer in the fields of Wiltshire, UK and elsewhere, an enigmatic presence open to many interpretations.

Some observers maintain that the symbolic formations are ‘mandalas of hope’ for our troubled world, as Theosophical writer David Pratt concludes in his article “Crop Circles and their Message.”

“The basic element of crop glyphs is the circle,” Pratt believes , symbolize “unity, boundless space, and the universal creative spirit or godforce. Crop circles with rings and satellites

sometimes resemble diagrams of the chemical elements, with their orbiting electrons.”

The “Boundless Circle”

“Tacitly admitting the All-Presence of the boundless Circle,” H. P. Blavatsky explains in The Secret Doctrine, makes of it “the universal Postulate upon which the whole of the manifested universe is based.”

“Although revolution and change often appear to be precipitated by things that happen to us from without,” theosophical astroblogger Lauren Coleman writes: “this process of revolution is also dependent on an inner evolution, an unfolding from within.”

All Hallows Eve: Astrology for Oct. 30 to Nov. 6

Lauren

Lauren

WE step through the veil this week, the veil that separates the material world from the more subtle worlds, the world of fairies, magic, and the realms of the dead.

We are now in the thick of Scorpio season. Venus and Mars perfect their conjunction, but we also see something more sublime, more mystical, and inspiring emerging as well.

In addition to our 4 corners of the Zodiac that coincide with the 4 Seasons, and the 4 Cardinal Signs, there are 4 other corners that fall in the middle of the ‘Fixed’ Signs, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. All 8 of these correspond to ancient celebrations and traditions throughout the world.

And on October 31st/November 1st, we celebrate Halloween here in the West, and the Day of the Dead as celebrated in Latin American countries.

In pre-Christian Ireland, Samhain, the precursor to Halloween, was celebrated as an agricultural feast when the last of the crops were gathered and the ‘cows came home’ for the Winter. Samhain represented seasonally the veil between the old year and the new. And as such, the spirits of the previous year, that had passed, were celebrated as well.

halloween

Halloween

Today the season has morphed into a holiday celebrated with costumed children and treats, where children make their rounds like so many fairies and demons from beyond the veil. In ancient Ireland, burial cairns were aired out on this day, and the dead were made offerings to pacify them and send them on their way. Bonfires were lit in honor of the dying sun and the shorter days. These fires served as a beacon to remind the Sun to return once more from the underworld, in order to light our days once again, here in the North.

The wound is the place
where the Light enters you.

 -Rumi

Venus and Mars perfect their conjunction this week. When the planet of desire and motivation meets the planet of love, sparks ignite. Sometimes these can be good sparks, that bring us closer to our object of desire. But conflict can also arise when these two disparate planets meet. It’s not all desire, lust and romance between these two. And it’s not uncommon for feelings of anger, and agitation to also arise when these two meet. With Venus in Virgo, there can either be an over-willingness to compromise, or resentment for having to, once again, put your own wishes and preferences aside for others. So we can also see this sense of frustration, and conflict, between wanting to make a connection with others, to have some kind of a social life, but also wanting to be able to do what we want, when we want. This can result in all sorts of passive aggressive grouchiness this week.

When you seek Love with all your heart
you shall find its echoes
in the Universe.

– Rumi

We confuse love with attachment, and endow people with all sorts of qualities and expectations, that they can’t possibly possess. So there are bound to be some glitches thrown into the mix because of this. But it is not necessary. For if we love someone, truly love them, what we would want more than anything is for that person to be happy. No matter what. This brings us to the fact that we are currently in Scorpio weather, which can be laden with desires of its own.

But as Sun and Mercury are trine Neptune, this week, the planet of transcendence, ideals, spirituality and compassion, we may have some insights into what that other type of Love, the type of love that Rumi writes of, that involves willing sacrifice, and is unconditional… Well, let’s just say that’s another kind of love.

For the week of October 30 thru November 6, be sure to read your rising sign as well:

Aries

Some of the more interesting manifestations of Venus/Mars in Virgo could be compelling social occasions at work; flirtations with co-workers; or enrolling in a new exercise/dance class, where you can get the blood flowing. But the flip side of that can also occur: Another office party?; jealousy or competition from co-workers; or inappropriate behavior in the work place that needs to be sorted out. Use the energy to get things done, to organize, and focus on those things that bring you the most inner satisfaction, and then set your priorities accordingly.

Taurus

When your ruler meets Mars, it can kindle the passions in romance, or those things which make your heart sing. But it can also be something of a motivator for all areas of your life, compelling you to finally take that first step, or commit to that next project you’ve been meaning to get to, or setting your priorities so that you can have more time for those things that truly being you happiness. This can be very creative and inspiring energy for Taurus. See where your heart is taking you, and what ventures you want to see get off the ground.

Gemini

With your ruler Mercury joining the Sun in Scorpio this week, you could find yourself on something of a mission to organize, separate, and make sense of both your personal and work environments. Mercury being in Scorpio could feel a little like you are on a mission, and this energy could be quite useful for seeing projects through to their completion. This week could also be quite inspiring. Allow your intuition as well as your mind to draw you to investigate some of those leads you are trying to follow.

Cancer

Probably the most compelling aspects this week for Cancer are those being made by Sun and Mercury in fellow water sign Scorpio, to transcendent Neptune. There is magic in the air at this time of year, when the fabric of the veil between the material and other realms becomes thinner. In this way Cancer is being cast with a veil of inspiration, where you are also being beckoned to find some stillness and serenity in your lives. Neptune/Sun/Mercury periods are good for spiritual journeys, spiritual studies, yoga retreats, journeys and explorations with no specific expectations, results or material rewards. The rewards that Neptune brings are of a different realm.

Leo

Pay attention to your dreams, to your intuition: dream, invent, imagine and create. Listen for the whispers in the sound of the silence. We enter the week on a note of profound introspection and meditation, and leave the week with a sense of purpose and resolve. Creatively, I don’t doubt you will probably have one of the more interesting costumes this year, if you are so inclined. On a more practical level, if something needs fixing, this is a great week to get it done. Focus on the work at hand, and you will be amazed at how much you can get accomplished.

Virgo

This is a good week for having the courage to initiate relationships, and/or approach others and make worthwhile connections. Don’t devalue the ability to use charm and friendly persuasion to get what you want. If you do know what you want, allow yourself to take the initiative, and get things rolling. Use the influence of Mars currently traveling in your sign to be more assertive and courageous in social and other situations. This is a good week to take the lead. As your ruler, Mercury, is also entering Scorpio this week, it is safe to say that if you are on something of a mission, this Venus/Mars energy can be quite useful.

Libra

This week could be quite motivating in some ways, but it can also be quite frustrating, especially if you develop impatience for not being able to take the initiative. Recognizing what you do have control over, will be helpful. And some of those things are probably more personal, such as your perspective, and your inner world. One thing that you may become more in tune with, are those things that are priorities in your life, what you truly desire, and also giving yourself permission to not compromise those things. Pay attention to your inner more subtle desires, but also pay attention to what is irking you as well. That is also important.

Scorpio

You are not one to tolerate sycophants and flatterers easily. But on the other hand, associates and allies can also prove to be quite useful in certain situations, and what we are willing to put up with, can bring its rewards later on. See what mutually beneficial alliances can be established this week, within your circle of acquaintances. Otherwise the energy for this week is somewhat subtle, sublime, intuitive, and perhaps even a little magical. It is prime for creative inspiration, as well as matters of the heart. We are in Scorpio season now, with Sun and Mercury in Scorpio: allow yourself to feel the inspiration of the magic in the air.

Sagittarius

There are times when magnetic charm can serve you well and this may just be one of those weeks, provided you use that charm for the greater good and harmony. Impatience and some other demons can also be a signature for this week, especially if certain buttons are being pushed, or emotional triggers being set off. Be particularly wary for issues of jealousy, possessiveness and control. You don’t have time for that nonsense. With Saturn, the planet of respect, traveling in your sign for the next few years, remember you are better than that.

Capricorn

There is a sense of discontent, or perhaps some discomfort arising over the next few weeks. We will address this further as we discuss the relationship between your ruler, Saturn, and Neptune that will extend into 2016. This is a long-term effect, but it will be in the backdrop of many of our lives, and it is just beginning to close in. In the mean time, there are a number of fortunate confluences this week. Not only the influence of Venus/Mars in fellow earth sign Virgo, which brings Capricorn more in touch with their own desires, but also the comfort of being in Scorpio season, which can bring you in touch with the people and situations that will either: bring you a sense of purpose; the sort of confirmation or vindication that brings healing; or a sense of re-empowerment.

Aquarius

There is a not so fine line that can be crossed in either romance or business, that can devolve into control, aggression, and/or frustration. Use your wonderful capacity to keep things in perspective, and objectively look at the feelings, emotions, compulsions, or attractions that arise. Some of these may be quite compelling and worth investing in, others maybe not so much. And when in doubt ask, do the research and investigate. Don’t take anything based on surface appearances. There’s a lot more going on underneath.

Pisces

People can be quite persuasive these days, as many people are keen to seduce us with their wiles as well as their wallets and energy. This may be either entertaining, or quite annoying as you may be also sensitive this week as to where and how you compromise too much in order to keep the peace. You can’t help other people’s feelings, positive or negative. And this can also devolve into passive aggressive actions by others, because they perceive you as being something of a rival for what they want or wish to accomplish. Pay them no heed. They’ll get over it, when they see that you are no threat to them. You are on a higher mission of your own this week, now that we are in Scorpio season. A mission with a much higher purpose.

“What is Destiny?”

by H. P. Blavatsky

hpb16

“As understood by the Occultist, it is merely the chain of causation producing its correspondential series of effects. …  every individual is his own creator or his own father, i.e., our future personality will be the result of our present mode of living.  In the same manner our present birth, with all its conditions is the tree grown out of the germ sown in our past incarnations. Our physical and spiritual conditions are the effects of our actions produced on those two planes.

“All our thoughts and actions thus produce the vibrations in space, which mould our future career. And astrology is a science, which having determined the nature of the laws that govern these vibrations is able to state precisely a particular or a series of results, the causes of which have already been produced by the individual in his previous life.

astrology_discovery

“Since the present incarnation is the child of the previous one, and since there is but that. ONE LIFE which holds together all the planets of the Solar system, the position of those planets at the time of the birth of an individual – which event is the aggregate result of the causes already produced – gives to the true Astrologer the data upon which to base his predictions.

Zanoni

Zanoni

“It should be well remembered at the same time that just as the ‘astronomer who catalogues the stars cannot add one atom to the universe,’ so also no astrologer, no more than the planet, can influence the human destiny. Perhaps the following beautiful passage from that exquisite work of Bulwer Lytton’s – Zanoni – may help to make the meaning still clearer:

‘For the accomplishment of whatever is great and lofty, the clear perception of truths is the first requisite – truths adapted to the object desired. The warrior thus reduces the chances of battle to combinations almost of mathematics. He can predict a result, if he can but depend upon the materials he is forced to employ.’

“This necessitates a consideration of the element of clairvoyance necessary to constitute a true astrologer.”

Theosophy Ethics: Crystal Clear, Inspiring, Challenging, Noble, Uncompromising, and Empathic

compassion

Tenzin Gyatso 14th Dalai Lama

EQUAL justice to all and love to every creature are not the highest virtues  in Theosophy according to its original resuscitator and promoter.

In her Key to Theosophy H. P. Blavatsky held to a “far higher” standard, “the giving to other more than to oneself, i.e. self-sacrifice.”

“Such was the standard and abounding measure which marked so preeminently the greatest Teachers and Masters of Humanity,” she wrote, “Gautama Buddha in History, and Jesus of Nazareth as in the Gospels.”

“This trait alone was enough to secure to them the perpetual reverence and gratitude of the generations of men that came after them,” she insisted, noting “there are many instances to illustrate it in history.”

“It often surprises people who have had no direct involvement with the Theosophical Movement to learn and discover the tremendous and constant emphasis on altruism, selflessness, service, ethics, morals, and purity of life, which permeates all Theosophical teachings,” the Blavatsky Theosophy Group UK explains.

“It would be no exaggeration to say that the philosophy and system of ethics propounded by H.P. Blavatsky and in the teachings of Theosophy in general is just as grand, crystal clear, inspiring, challenging, noble, uncompromising, and emphatic, as that presented by Buddha, Krishna, Jesus, or any of the other great Saviours and Teachers, if not even more so,” they write.

“Self-sacrifice for practical good to save many, or several people, Theosophy holds, is far higher than self-abnegation for a sectarian idea, such as that of ‘saving the heathen from damnation,’ for instance,” Blavatsky declared.

Awakening to the Cosmic Heart

healing-mountains“THERE are no isolated islands in an electric universe, from the smallest particle to the largest galactic formation.

“A web of electrical circuitry connects and unifies all of nature, organizing galaxies, energizing stars, giving birth to planets.”

On our own world, agreeing with Theosophy, David Talbott and Wallace Thornhill assert”this electric web is controlling weather and animating biological organisms.” (Thunderbolts of the Gods)

Astronomers like to believe the Sun is a glowing nuclear furnace. And, “that galaxies are clouds of hydrogen gas and intergalactic dust,” Stephen Smith notes in his article The Filamentary Firmament, and they “were assembled by gravity until they coalesced into swarms of glowing thermonuclear fires.”

“The Electric Universe theory,” Smith says, “is opposed to the idea of galaxies condensed from cold, inert hydrogen.”

“Strands of magnetically confined plasma can be seen throughout the cosmos,” Smith argues: “In an Electric Universe, every body in the Solar System, along with every star and galaxy, is charged with electricity and exists within a plasma environment.”

The Secret Doctrine, likewise, establishes an electric universe. And also that our Sun,  driven by electricity and magnetism like all Suns, is the true heart of the solar system.

Radically at odds with modern cosmologists, it also considers gravity a secondary terrestrial law, an effect of the former rather than a cause.

“The law of gravitation has no right to be referred to as an universal law,” Blavatsky wrote (1:490-498): “They call Gravity a law, a cause in itself. We call the forces acting under that name effects, and very secondary effects, too. One day it will be found that the scientific hypothesis does not answer after all.”

Astrology, Numbers and Destiny

ASTROLOGY is just unscientific superstition many skeptics insist. Real philosophy, Theosophy counters, seeks “rather to solve than to deny.”

“It is an axiom of the philosophic student,” Blavatsky affirms, “that truth generally lies between the extremes.”

This is what the ancients meant by Astrology she says.

“Mention the word ‘astrology’ and skeptics go into an epileptic fit,” natural health researcher Mike Adams says.

“The idea that someone’s personality could be imprinted at birth according to the position of the sun, moon and planets,” Adams comments, “has long been derided as ‘quackery’ by the so-called ‘scientific’ community

… which resists any notion based on holistic connections between individuals and the cosmos.”

ξ

But wait a minute. Recently, scientific studies showing planetary imprinting called “seasonal biology” has confirmed the principle underlying astrology. The scientific study shows that planetary positions do, surprisingly, influence our biological clocks. Why not our psychological and mental states as well?

Occult Influences

“The ancients always considered the ‘ambient’ – or entire heaven – at birth,” Blavatsky colleague William Q. Judge wrote in Astrological Influences, “as being that which affected man.”

New Age Mother, Madame Blavatsky, referred often to astrology in her Theosophical writings, as in the following lines from “The Theosophist” in Blavatsky Collected Writings compiled by Boris de Zircoff.

Although a study of the science of astronomy may enable us “to determine what the course of events will be,” she insisted that:

“…the clock indicates,
it does not influence the time.”

Å

Thus, she says, “though the planets may have no hand in changing the destiny of man, still their position may indicate what that destiny is likely to be.”

“And a distant traveler has often to put right his clock, so that it may indicate correctly the time of the place he visits.”

2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helpers prepared a 2012 annual report for Theosophy Watch.

Here’s an excerpt:

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. Theosophy Watch was viewed about 96,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 5 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

The Cosmic Heart

“THERE are no isolated islands in an electric universe, from the smallest particle to the largest galactic formation.

A web of electrical circuitry connects and unifies all of nature, organizing galaxies, energizing stars, giving birth to planets.”

On our own world, agreeably with Theosophy, David Talbott and Wallace Thornhill also assert (Thunderbolts of the Gods): “this electric web is controlling weather and animating biological organisms.”

Sacred Dawn

TODAY is the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, which means it’s the longest day of the year in 2011.

The exact moment of the solstice today will occur at 1:16 p.m. ET. In the Southern Hemisphere, today actually marks the 2011 winter solstice.

As with mythology, such traditions appeal to our imagination and are open to different interpretations.

“Although revolution and change often appear to be precipitated by things that happen to us from without,” theosophical astroblogger Lauren Coleman assures us:

“this process of revolution is also dependent on an inner evolution, an unfolding from within.”

Ω

“Heralding the beginning of summer and the longest day of the year,” writes astrologer Elaine Kalantarian, “the June solstice was called Midsummer by the Celts.”

Many people believe that the summer crop circles in Wiltshire UK carry a symbolically encoded message. (Click here, or on the photo below to view the latest circles.)

Symbology experts such as researcher Freddy Silva, imagine that the enigmatic designs in growing fields are sacred geometry, and may represent ‘mandalas of hope’ for our troubled world.

Theosophical scholar, David Pratt, thinks so. In his engaging article “Crop Circles and their Message,” he theorizes: “The basic element of crop glyphs is the circle which can symbolize unity, boundless space, and the universal creative spirit or godforce.”

“Crop circles with rings and satellite circles sometimes resemble diagrams of the chemical elements, with their orbiting electrons.”
